Singing over You
“The LORD your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in his love he will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing." — Zephaniah 3:17, NIV
Sarah had struggled to understand how God could love her like a father. She’d been orphaned when she was young and passed around various relatives. She never knew how long she’d be in one place or when the next move would happen.
When she grew older and became a Christian, she didn’t know how to relate to God. She prayed that God would show her how great His love for her was. So God gave her a husband then a beautiful baby boy.
In the middle of one night, Sarah was woken from a sound sleep. Her husband wasn’t beside her like he usually was. Quietly, Sarah padded to the nursery. She peeked into the room to see her husband inside.
He was rocking their son and singing “You Are My Sunshine” in a low tone. As she watched them, she heard God whisper, “This is how I love you. Like your husband delights in his son, so I delight in you.”
God, help me to remember that You delight in me. You comfort me in the middle of the night with Your unfailing love. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
